DULUTH, Ga. -- NCR Corp. has unveiled ConvenienceGo (C-Go), a mobile payment application for smart phones. C-Go, a store-branded smart phone app, allows a shopper to make purchases, including fuel, food, car wash and other items, and to pay through the app.
Already in pilot at several convenience stores--NCR did not name the chains--C-Go meets shopper demands for fast mobile payment options and gives stores opportunities for targeted upselling and for providing targeted promotions and offers through integration with the NCR Advanced Marketing Solution (AMS)
By using low-cost automatic clearinghouse (ACH) and gift card payment methods, C-Go also offers c-stores lower transaction costs, the company said.
NCR has also unveil the NCR SelfServ Checkout Express Convertible, which can operate in both self-checkout and assisted modes, depending on store traffic. The Express Convertible's small footprint is ideal for smaller c-store space and c-store shoppers' smaller baskets. The device can stand alone or be lined up with several others to create a bank of convertible checkouts.
"The main thing shoppers want when they go to a convenience store is a quick shopping experience--some are in an out in as little as two minutes," said Jason Groff, director of petroleum and convenience retail at NCR. "NCR's mobile and self-checkout solutions allow convenience stores to get more customers in and out quickly, exceeding customer expectations for service, speed and convenience in a way that drives brand loyalty and repeat visits."
