New Market Demands, New Operational Demands

Platolene 500 selects Pinncale's Price Book

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Platolene 500 Inc. has purchased The Pinnacle Corp.'s Price Book, Pinnacle's Windows-based price management and scan file support system designed specifically for the convenience store and petroleum retail industries.

"In 2007, Platolene 500 will be celebrating 50 years in the convenience store/gas station business. With that, we realize the importance of continuing to change with the times," said Henry Smith, general manager of Platolene 500. "Our business has gone from selling gas and windshield wipers to grocery and full-service [image-nocss] delicatessens. These new market demands also include new operational demands, and Pinnacle has helped us keep up. With Price Book technology, we believe it will help cut training time for our employees in addition to giving us more accurate audits, the ability to track individual items better, and a checks-and-balance system with our employees. Price Book will help Platolene 500 continue to provide our customers with the products they desire in an efficient manner for the next 50 years."

With this database tool, Price Book gives retailers easy access to all critical business information in order to manage inventory and increase margins. This tool can handle extremely complex, large-chain pricing scenarios. Price Book reduces paperwork and data entry time, allowing retailers to focus on other business needs, the company said.

"This is the first of several automation projects Pinnacle will be working on with this company," said John Cheneler, vice president of sales for Pinnacle. "Utilizing our professional services team, we are able to assist in the migration to the new pricebook. We were able to set up the new system with little or no resource impact to Platolene 500, allowing it to stay focused on operations and be up and running in less time than if it had implemented the system itself."

Platolene 500, Terre Haute, Ind., has six stores, five in Indiana and one in Kentucky, with 75 employees in total. Net sales are of more than $22 million annually. Platolene 500 also uses Pinnacle's Oasis Manager Workstation and Fuel Smart.

Arlington, Texas-based Pinnacle is a provider of automation technology. It delivers products that automate the broad spectrum of c-store operations and supply chain management of fuel operations.
