Offers enhanced rebates for new Shell MasterCard Cardholders

HOUSTON -- Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS) has launched a new credit card incentive and marketing campaign for the Shell MasterCard from Citi Cards. Through this campaign, new Shell MasterCard credit cardholders will earn triple Shell rebates for 60 days on all Shell gasoline purchases, the first $100 spent at Jiffy Lube locations per day, and everyday purchases.

New cardholders can earn a rebate of 35 cents per gallon at an average price of $2.35 per gallon when using a Shell MasterCard from Citi Cards for their Shell gasoline purchases.

The Shell MasterCard already offers an everyday rebate of 5% on all Shell gasoline purchases; however, to motivate more consumers to take advantage of these everyday benefits, consumers who apply for the card between Oct. 15, 2005, and Jan. 15, 2006, and are approved for a new Shell MasterCard account, will earn triple rebates on their Shell MasterCard purchases. With triple rebates these new cardholders will earn a 15% rebate on Shell gasoline and on the first $100 spent on Jiffy Lube services per day, and a 3% rebate on all their other purchases.

New cardholders can take advantage of the triple reward for 60 days from the date their new account is opened. At the end of the 60-day period, the rebate will return a 5% rebate on all Shell gasoline and on the first $100 spent on Jiffy Lube services per day, as well as the 1% rebate made on purchases everywhere else MasterCard is accepted. All rebates are applied directly to customers' monthly statements as credits toward future Shell gasoline purchases made with the Shell MasterCard.

Elizabeth Hudson, manager of the Shell MasterCard program at Houston-based SOPUS, said, The triple-triple reward programhelps ensure that Shell continues to maintain one of the largest credit card portfolios in the industry.

The efforts to promote the Shell MasterCard triple rebate promotion include a national advertising and communications campaign that uses cable TV, Internet and radio advertisements and public relations efforts to generate awareness. In addition, Shell stations will receive a comprehensive point-of-purchase (POP) package that includes pumptoppers, pole signs, register signs and other signage.

We designed the promotion and the national advertising and communications campaign with two primary objectives in mind: helping to boost traffic at our stations and increase the number of applications for the Shell MasterCard, said Hudson.
