  • Sanjiv Desai, formerly vice president of compliance and general counsel, has been promoted to executive vice president, regulatory affairs & general counsel. Desai will continue overseeing all of VMR’s legal functions and resources, with a focus on regulatory issues regarding the electronic-cigarette industry.
  • Fred Lu, formerly vice president of products, is now an executive vice president. He is responsible for the planning, organization and engineering of some of VMR’s most successful products, including the fastest-selling V2 Pro Series 3 and Series 7 vaporizers.
  • Daniel Ramirez, formerly chief of staff to VMR’s CEO Jan Verleur, is now the vice president of operations. He is responsible for overseeing the company’s U.S. and E.U. operations, including purchasing, logistics, fulfillment, customer service, IT infrastructure and facilities.
  • Lawrence Wong is now managing director and vice president of operations for China. Wong’s appointment comes during a time when the global e-cigarette market is expected to top $50 billion over the next 10 years with China becoming the second-largest revenue-generating country within the category.

In his role, Wong will be responsible for all business activities in China, including managing supply chain, sales and marketing, finance and human-resources functions. Wong has more than 15 years of experience in managing businesses in China, including ALD Manufacturing. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Psychology from the University of Windsor in Canada and a Legal Degree in Arbitration from the City University of Hong Kong.

“As the global vapor market continues to grow, we want to ensure VMR is strategically positioned to scale accordingly,” said Verleur. “This means bringing on experts like Lawrence to lead high-growth markets such as China, as well as elevating key talent within our executive team. I’m confident that in their new roles, Sanjiv, Fred and Daniel will continue to exceed expectations and further solidify our position as a vapor technology powerhouse.”

“It’s a privilege to work with one of the most innovative and forward-thinking vapor technology manufacturers in the world,” said Wong. “Jan and his executive team are adept at spotting key business opportunities, and I’m excited to help build on VMR’s momentum within China as it quickly becomes one of the category’s most profitable markets.”
