Methodology

For year-over-year benchmarking purposes, CSP’s Top 202 is a list of the largest convenience-store chains ranked by U.S. store count as of Dec. 31, 2018. Any pending sales are not included. Technomic, CSP’s Chicago-based sister research company, believes its sources of information are reliable, but it does not assume any liability for the accuracy or comprehensiveness of the information published.

Speedway LLC’s numbers do not reflect the 37 stores Marathon Petroleum acquired from NOCO Energy Co. BP America Inc.’s numbers do not reflect its acquisition of Thorntons Inc. because the deal did not close until early 2019. EG Group’s numbers do not reflect the 54-unit Fastrac Markets acquisition, because the deal was not announced until April 2019. RaceTrac and RaceWay stores have been separated due to their unique business models.

Note: Because of the tie at 201, the list includes 203 chains. Bonus!
