Supermarket, convenience-store and gasoline retailer Hy-Vee Inc. has partnered with Soda Health, a health technology company that promotes healthy habits through its Smart Benefits platform.
Available at all Hy-Vee locations, including Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh convenience stores, the new program is funded by insurance plans and other health benefits organizations in order to help increase access to health care and address social determinants of health, the Iowa-based retailer announced.
“Through this new program, we make managing health easier for our customers,” Aaron Wiese, president of Hy-Vee, said in announcing the program.
The program is available to participating Medicare Advantage, Medicaid and employer benefits programs, as well as other public organizations. Personalized benefits include items such as fresh produce and over-the-counter pharmacy items.
“Together, we are bringing localized, personalized, comprehensive health care to customers who need it most at the locations they visit the most," said Robby Knight, CEO and co-founder of Soda Health.
The program also allows employer groups to customize their benefit plans with incentives such as gift cards, fuel discounts and exclusive coupons. The benefits can also be used to pay for transportation to medical appointments and personal utility bills.
