Kwik Trip rolled out statistics on social media Thursday, including sales volume for some big sellers.

The La Crosse, Wisconsin-based convenience-store chain served 559,913,741 customers in 2023, in the process selling 26,821,499 chicken tenders, it said in an Instagram post.

Kwik Trip, which in the 2023 CSP Top 202 ranking had 847 stores on Jan. 1, 2023, built 26 new stores last year.

  • Kwik Trip is No. 11 on CSP’s 2023 Top 202 ranking of convenience store chains by store count.

The chain also sold 38,099,636 Glazers doughnuts and 46,365,322 coffees.

These numbers prompted one fan on Instagram to write, “How does a customer buy coffee and not two glazers? Glazers number should be roughly double to triple the coffee number.”

Gallons of milk sold? That would be 25,043,229.

Kwik Trip, which is investing $151 million to expand operations at several Wisconsin locations, serves customers in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin under the Kwik Trip name, and in Illinois, Iowa and South Dakota as Kwik Star. The c-store chain also has plans for two locations in Fargo, North Dakota.

A related Instagram comment was, “Can your 2024 goal be to put a store in Honolulu. Please and thank you.”

Family-owned Kwik Trip opened its first store in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, in 1965. It has about 800 locations under the Kwik Trip and Kwik Star flags. One of the biggest independently held c-store chains in the country, it produces more than 80% of the products sold in its stores, which are supplied by its own bakery, commissary, dairy and distribution center.
