YORK, PA. -- In a nod to the unique fare of Central Pennsylvania, Rutter’s Farm Stores has added two hometown favorites, whoopie pies and fried sweet bologna, and one classic American dish, macaroni and cheese, to its diverse foodservice menu.
An all-American favorite, macaroni and cheese adds yet another fast, delicious dinnertime choice or anytime snack for Rutter’s busy customers. Each serving is seven ounces of traditional shells and creamy cheddar cheese. To make each meal even heartier, customers can add beef short ribs, taco meat, chili, philly steak or bacon.
“Mac and cheese is classic American comfort food. We’re happy to be able to provide it in a fast and fresh way for our on-the-go customers,” said Jerry Weiner, Rutter’s vice president of foodservice.
The convenience-store chain has also introduced new sweet treats to their ever-expanding menu. A Central Pennsylvania tradition, whoopie pies have been a product of Pennsylvania Dutch kitchens for generations. Rutter’s uses a time-tested local recipe to create the authentic flavor locals have come to love. Two sweet chocolate cakes sandwich velvety white filling to create Rutter’s newest dessert.
The new fried sweet bologna bites use chunks of Pennsylvania’s own Lebanon sweet bologna, fried to order and served with any of the dipping sauces available on Rutter’s menu. Each serving is five ounces, which makes for a hearty snack.
York, Pa.-based Rutter's Farm Stores is a chain of 60 convenience stores and gas stations in central Pennsylvania.
