Alltown Fresh recently upped its frozen-smoothie game to target consumers looking for healthy frozen options, says Shauna Seidenberg, category marketing manager of dispensed beverage and fast food for Alltown Fresh, a division of Global Partners LP, Waltham, Mass. Alltown Fresh offers seven smoothie varieties, all of which contain fruits and vegetables such as spinach, pineapple, avocado, blueberries, banana, apple and cucumber. The smoothies are made to order and customizable; consumers can add ingredients such as flaxseed powder, chia seeds, almond butter, maca powder and fresh yogurt.

“Our guests were requesting [healthy smoothies],” says Seidenberg. “We wanted to offer a [frozen] product that was handmade and genuinely good for you.”

Rutter’s centers its limited-time-offer (LTO) program on unique flavors. Varieties rotate in and out, and if they perform well, they are permanently added to the chain’s menu. The Apple Cider Frappe and Peanut Butter Cup coffee creamers both began as LTOs and have become two of the most popular foodservice beverage flavors, says White.
