IRVING, Texas — 7-Eleven is releasing an own-label energy drink.

Triton, a sugar-free drink made with L-theanine, follows the 2019 rollout of Quake Energy at the Irving, Texas-based convenience-store chain. Triton has 200 milligrams of caffeine and the amino acid L-theanine, which are both sourced from green tea leaves. It is also made with B vitamins, ginseng, taurine, guarana and other amino acids.

Triton comes in three flavors: Original, a fruity combination with a citrus burst of lemon, grapefruit and orange; Strawberry Kiwi, candy-like strawberry flavor that’s balanced with sweet, tart and tangy kiwi flavor; and Blood Orange Yuzu, a distinctive blood orange flavor combined with the exotic tart yuzu flavor.

7-Eleven sells several other private-label beverages including Skyra Icelandic water, 7-Select organic cold-pressed juice and Replenish Sports Drink.

"7-Eleven is one of the leading beverage sellers in the U.S., and our private brand drinks are a growing segment of that business," said Jack Stout, 7-Eleven senior vice president of merchandising and demand chain. "And that's not by accident. We are always looking for ways to improve quality and offer taste profiles that are new and trending at a great value."

7-Eleven Inc. is the largest c-store chain in the United States, with more than 9,300 locations.
