LA CROSSE, Wis. — Kwik Trip and comedian and Emmy-winning journalist Charlie Berens have teamed to promote the company’s Fresh Blends line of beverages.

The result is the Berens Alexander, a combination of caramel, chocolate, cream and cold brew, the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune reported.

The Fresh Blends line includes cold brew coffees, iced coffees, frozen lemonades, juicy refreshers, blended frappes, frozen chocolates, fruit shakes and smoothies.

Wisconsin native Berens is the creator of the comedic online news series “Manitowoc Minute.”

  • Kwik Trip is No. 12 on CSP’s 2021 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by number of company-owned retail outlets.

Kwik Trip’s social media team members Kendra Nedegaard and Paige Forde told the Daily Tribune that the company has had a solid relationship with Berens for years. “Both Kwik Trip and Charlie scream ‘Wisconsin,’ so it’s a real powerhouse when our content overlaps,” Nedegaard said.

Kwik Trip, which just introduced “Kwik Spirits,” last year began working on ideas to promote the Fresh Blends and conceived of the Berens Alexander. “We loved the idea of creating a secret menu, and Charlie was the perfect fit with a supper club mocktail,” Nedegaard told the Daily Tribune.

The chain previously worked with Berens and Adam Greuel, a member of Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, a bluegrass/Americana band. Kwik Trip posted a beer cooler concert video recorded in one of its beer coolers, and Kwik Trip also carries their CD “Unthawed” at registers, the Daily Tribune reported.

The Berens Alexander is a limited-time offer.

La Crosse, Wis.-based Kwik Trip in December opened its 800th store.
