Four new hot sandwiches from Kwik Trip all contain pepper jack cheese.

The sandwiches debuted last week. Two are for breakfast, two for lunch and dinner:

  • Pepperjack’d Ham & Egg Flatbread (pictured top)
  • Pepperjack’d Western Omelet on Flatbread (second from top)
  • Pepperjack’d Quarter Pound Burger on Pretzel Bun (second from bottom)
  • Pepperjack’d Spicy Chicken Sandwich

“We are excited to offer these new sandwiches on our hot spot,” Kwik Trip spokesperson Ben Leibl told CSP. “We think our guests will enjoy this added twist to our already great sandwiches that we have to offer.”

  • Kwik Trip is No. 12 on CSP’s 2024 Top 40 Update to the 2023 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count. Watch for the full 2024 Top 202 ranking in the June issue of CSP magazine and in CSP Daily News.

At La Crosse, Wisconsin-based Kwik Trip's convenience stores, the sandwiches are doing well when it comes to craveability. CSP sister research arm Technomic, Chicago, routinely asks shoppers to score the brand on craveable items.

Respondents who say a brand is “good” or “very good” for craveable items are then asked which items they find craveable.

When it comes to the percentage of recent Kwik Trip customers mentioning an item as being craveable, sandwiches placed second among the top five:

  • 17.4% chicken
  • 13.6% sandwiches
  • 11.4% baked goods
  • 10.7% pizza
  • 9.9% doughnuts

Also at Technomic, pepper jack falls into the mature category, with a 58.3% convenience-store penetration in 2024’s first quarter, down from 70.8% in the first quarter of 2023.

Kwik Trip was recently named the best gas station brand in the United States for the fifth year in a row, according to the 2024 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The family-owned company serves customers in Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Kwik Trip has about 850 locations and is one of the biggest independently held c-store chains in the country. It produces more than 80% of the products sold in its stores, supplied by its own bakery, commissary, dairy and distribution center.
