Rutter’s is the 2025 winner, and the first U.S. retailer ever, to receive the Best Foodvenience in the World Award. It won for its convenience store in Milton, Pennsylvania, that features a sports bar and video gaming terminals.

The contest, which recognizes convenience retail foodservice, is run by media company Global Convenience.

“Selected from fierce global competition, Rutter’s Milton location has set a new benchmark in the industry, highlighting its commitment to innovation and excellence,” the York, Pennsylvania-based company said. “This landmark achievement celebrates Rutter’s unique approach to the foodvenience experience, blending fresh, quality food offerings with unmatched customer convenience.”

  • Rutter’s is No. 79 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.

Central to this success is Rutter’s Milton location, the company said, where innovation “thrives through features such as the acclaimed 1747 Bar and Lounge, a vibrant social and sports watching destination that elevates the convenience store concept to a new level of guest engagement and satisfaction.”

The 14,000-square-foot Milton store features a bar and lounge. The sports bar and convenience-store concept for customers 21 and older features a selection of adult beverages, such as canned cocktails, beer and wine. It also has more than 20 65-inch TVs, live sports tickers with real-time updates and five video gaming terminals. In addition to the entertainment space, the Rutter’s location offers made-to-order food, beer caves, fuel and more.

Rutter’s CEO Scott Hartman said, “We are truly honored to bring this prestigious global award home to the United States. This recognition reflects the dedication and creativity of our entire team, where we continuously push the boundaries of what food and convenience can be. Winning the Best Foodvenience in the World Award motivates us to keep innovating and delivering an extraordinary experience to our customers every day.”

Rutter’s said its “groundbreaking model has revolutionized the industry by seamlessly integrating high-quality meals, expansive foodservice options (over 20 billion combinations) and community-focused spaces that invite guests to linger and enjoy. The 1747 Bar and Lounge stands as a testament to this vision, offering guests an inviting atmosphere to relax and connect.”

Rutter’s added that as the first U.S. company to take this award, “Rutter’s cements its position as a global trailblazer, setting a new standard for convenience retail internationally.”

Rutter’s operates 92 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia.
