Almost a quarter (23%) of beef consumers and 37% of millennials say they’d be likely to try a plant-based beef alternative if available, according to the 2019 Beef & Pork Consumer Trend Report. Even quick-service restaurants have hopped onto this trend: In September 2018, White Castle, Columbus, Ohio, debuted its plant-based Impossible Sliders at all locations nationwide. The meat-free patty is made from soy protein, potato protein, coconut oil and sunflower oil. Burger King followed suit last month with the Impossible Whopper.
