7-Eleven Canada Rolls Out 7Rewards Loyalty App

Offers more dispensed beverage variety than any other rewards program, retailer says

VANCOUVER, B.C. --Following the debut in the United States this week, 7-Eleven Canada has announced the launch of its 7Rewards loyalty program. The mobile app program will allow convenience-store shoppers to customize their rewards experience by buying any six cups of any size and getting the seventh one free.

This is the first time 7-Eleven has launched this kind of extended program, which it believes offers more dispensed beverage variety than any other rewards program.

Regular guests can earn free coffees, Slurpees, iced coffees and Big Gulps. Any hot or cold drinks served in a 7-Eleven cup including refills count toward the seventh drink. So a customer could, for example, buy six regular-sized coffees and then get a larger, more expensive Slurpee for free.

Exclusive to 7-Eleven Canada, customers who use their apps to scan their drinks purchases will also be entered to win a trip for two to one of the Seven Wonders of the World. 7-Eleven Canada is giving away seven trips, one each week.

Users download the mobile app available in the iTunes App Store or Google Play and register as a member. After that, the app does all the work and keeps track of the customer's digital punch card via in-store scans.

Once the customer redeems the free cup, the punch card starts over.

"Our mobile app has seen a significant amount of downloads and usage since its launch," said Raj Kapoor, vice president and general manager of 7-Eleven Canada. "7Rewards takes the app to the next level by offering our customers a customized on- and off-line experience that allows them to benefit from their loyalty. It's a great way for us to thank them for their continued business while at the same time giving guests the chance to enjoy a selection of their favourite [remember, it's Canada--the "u" stays] hot or cold beverages."

Dallas-based 7-Eleven Inc. operates, franchises or licenses more than 10,400 convenience stores in North America. Globally, there are more than 54,600 7-Eleven c-stores in 16 countries. During 2013, 7-Eleven stores generated total worldwide sales close to $84.5 billion. 7-Eleven Canada is based in Vancouver, B.C.
