Vroom Delivery Inc. and Uber Eats have agreed to work together to offer more delivery options for convenience stores, including delivery of age-restricted items, through an integrated solution, Vroom Delivery said Monday.

“We are excited to partner with Vroom Delivery to help convenience retailers reach more customers and grow their businesses with delivery,” said Bernie Huddleston, general manager of Uber Direct for U.S. and Canada. “By making it easier for convenience retailers to take in and fulfill online orders and leverage the network of couriers delivering with Uber, this new partnership will benefit consumers and convenience retailers alike.” Uber Direct offers services for merchants and is part of Uber Eats, a unit of San Francisco-based Uber.

For retailers currently using Vroom’s delivery order solution and the Uber Eats Marketplace, the partnership will allow orders from both channels to be routed to a single tablet, where the order can be printed with a thermal receipt printer, Miami-based Vroom Delivery said. The company provides e-commerce software to the convenience-store industry.

“Our unique integrations and automation in the industry combined with Uber’s network of independent drivers and the Uber Eats Marketplace will both lower costs, improve efficiency and increase the range of items consumers can get delivered,” John Nelson, CEO of Vroom Delivery, said.

Vroom Delivery’s automated inventory and menu management system integrates with back-office systems from PDI, ADDS and KRS, the company said. The company said its serves more than 3,000 stores in 40 U.S. states and lseeks to reach more retailers through the new partnership, which will provide access to marketing incentives from Uber.

Stores partnering with the Uber Eats app can use Vroom Delivery’s menu management services to create online menus from thousands of products. This could result in larger basket sizes and fewer out-of-stock items listed online, Vroom said.

In November 2022, Vroom Delivery received investment capital from convenience-store chains, such as Wesco, Hutch’s and FavTrip, to help Vroom expand its automation development and its reach to other retailers. In April, it announced a partnership with PAR Technology Inc.’s Punchh, a provider of loyalty software, to allow convenience-store operators to more easily list products online and provide loyalty rewards to consumers for online purchases.
