In April 2015, TPSAC members voted against the MRTP application from Swedish Match North America regarding its General Snus products. Officials with the Richmond, Va.-based tobacco manufacturer said they were hopeful that continued work with the FDA and the Center Tobacco Products would ultimately yield a positive result for the company.
In fall 2016, the FDA gave a partial ruling on Swedish Match’s application, denying its request to remove a specific warning on gum disease while deferring other requests.
