7-Eleven is among the world’s largest and most widely recognized and iconic retailers, both inside and outside the convenience-store channel. In 2021, it closed the largest acquisition in both its and the c-store channel's history, adding approximately 3,800 Speedway stores in 36 states. As of Jan. 1, 2022, it operated nearly 13,000 stores primarily under the 7-Eleven and Speedway banners and some branded Stripes. A large majority of 7-Eleven's c-stores are operated by franchisees, while the corporate company owns the properties.
