Atlantis Management Group (AMG) was started in 2005 by Jimmy Kochisarli, Tumay Basaranlar and Jose Montero. Today the company owns more than 200 locations, including 79 company-owned and -operated ones, in the northeastern United States. About 30 of the stores are branded Atlantis Fresh Markets, and that number is growing as it renovates and acquires more stores.

In November 2017, AMG acquired Food Bag, a convenience-store chain and CITGO-branded petroleum marketer based in Kensington, Conn. The transaction included the purchase of more than 50 fee-simple sites and a transportation company. Atlantis’ also acquired Americana Petroleum Corp. and Major Fuel Carriers Corp. in October 2019, a purchase that included eight retail gas locations with convenience stores or service bays, a wholesale fuels business and delivery trucks.

Atlantis’ retail sites are a mix of company-operated and tenant-operated locations selling Sunoco's Coastal brand of fuels.

AMG has established co-branding relationships with retail companies such as Dunkin’ Brands and 7-Eleven. It is an authorized distributor or broker supplier for the Exxon, Mobil, BP, CITGO and Gulf brands.

In June 2021, AMG launched its own Atlantis Fresh Delivery application, which is available for use at all Atlantis Fresh Market stores. There are no delivery fees for users, and prices on the app are the same as what customers find in the store. AMG promises customers they’ll get their products in less than 30 minutes.

For benchmarking purposes, store counts are as of Jan. 1, 2022.
