U-Pak-It is a chain of independently operated convenience stores throughout Louisiana. A steering committee of five owners reviews the operations together and considers products to add to stores, advising the operators. Individual operators are responsible for their profits and losses.
Units are generally 2,500 to 4,000 square feet. Foodservice is offered in self-service, quick-service and full-service formats. Stores offer a variety of cigarette brands and smokeless tobacco products. All stores sell beer, wine and liquor, featuring national brands.
Candy is sold in a variety of sizes, including theater and bagged sizes. Snacks including potato chips and jerky are sold. Stores carry Church Point’s proprietary label Hy-Top for grocery products such as ketchup, instant potatoes, soup and cookies. Some stores offer frozen entrees, produce and a meat department. Basic groceries include bread, cereal, crackers, cookies, soups and whole fruit. General merchandise items include novelties such as knives, bait, sports items, decals for cars, hair extensions and feathers, caps and tee shirts.
