Flash Foods Inc. operates 164 stores in Georgia and Florida, with all but 16 in Georgia, plus 21 Quick Service Restaurant brands. The chain is part of The Jones Co., which also includes a grocery-distribution arm (Distribution South) and a fuel-distribution company (Fuel South), both of which deliver to Flash Foods stores, and several car dealerships.

In the past few years, many stores have been rebuilt or remodeled. New stores measure nearly 3,400 square feet, and the average store measures 2,800 square feet. Stores have a minimum of four pumps for eight fueling positions per site, although larger stores have eight MPDs for 16 fueling positions. Sixty-five stores have "Beer Kegs," or oversized vaults stocked with ice-cold multipacks of beer.

The company also operates 23 restaurants, some of which are freestanding, including Subway, Taco Bell, Krystal and Dairy Queen. In addition, the company has a unique partnership with McDonald's, whereby the QSR chain operates restaurants on Flash Foods store lots at five locations.

Flash Foods' 'Rewards in a Flash' loyalty program, started in 2005, has 600,000 active users and has grown to account for 35% of total transactions. The program rewards customers with 2% back in "Flash Cash," thereby driving up total purchases and the average ring per transaction, while presenting Flash Foods executives with a rich data component that helps them better understand how, when, where and why consumers spend their dollars.

CST Brands agreed to purchase Flash Foods in November 2015. The deal is expected to close in early 2016.
