Weigel's Farm Stores Inc. operates dairy and convenience stores, most within a 50-mile radius of corporate headquarters in Powell, Tenn., on the edge of Knoxville. A typical new store offers pay-at-the-pump gasoline, competitive pricing and unconditionally guaranteed products. Weigel's generally plans to open about two stores per year. New stores feature the chain's foodservice concept, Weigel's Kitchen, and the chain continues to grow its foodservice offerings.

The chain is known for "firsts," including introducing self-serve gasoline pumps and the frozen ICEE drink to the Tennessee market. In 2011, the chain introduced surcharge-free ATMs. In 2014, Weigel’s opened its own 6,000-square-foot bakery in West Knoxville, called Red Barn LLC. Fresh doughnuts, cookies and muffins are delivered to Weigel’s stores daily. The facility also prepares the Weigel’s Kitchens sandwiches, fresh bread and paninis. All items are private-labeled.

Weigel's culture calls for people who are friendly, efficient and who take special ownership in their store. Many employees have a long tenure with the company. Management says such longevity leads to great customer service, excellent working relationships with their co-workers, and a commitment to make their time at work fun.
