The Parker Cos.’ Parker’s convenience-store chain prefers to have in-store sales drive profit rather than fuel margins. That explains why its gasoline price differential is 4.39 cents per gallon less than its market competition, according to OPIS. Instead, the Savannah, Ga.-based regional chain of large-format c-stores, which operates in Georgia and South Carolina, strives to provide a premium shopping experience in a safe, friendly and convenient environment while selling fuels and well-merchandised products at competitive prices.
The chain’s popular PumpPal Club loyalty program enables customers to save up to 10 CPG on fuel. And its c-stores complete more than 100,000 transactions daily.
“We target our stores to the working mother, who is the most time-starved, discriminating customer,” said Greg Parker, president and CEO of the company. “She wants safe, clean stores, wide aisles, easy-to-find merchandise, bright lighting and a helpful staff. And that’s exactly what we deliver at every Parker’s location, 24/7.”
