As QuickChek Corp. turns the corner on 50 years in the convenience business, it has become a formidable fuel retailer. The QuickChek fuel brand’s market efficiency in 2017 was nearly four times the market average, and it boasted a price differential of more than 6 CPG below its local competition, according to OPIS figures. Through the QuickChek Deals mobile app, customers can check fuel prices at any of the chain’s stores in real time.
But for the Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based chain, fuel is a “pass-through” business, with greater profits promised within. QuickChek continues to improve its c-store offer, including a format introduced in 2017 with the millennial in mind, complete with self-checkout and phone and laptop charging stations. On the forecourt, the newest sites feature a brightly lit fuel island with 16 fueling positions.
