Gate Petroleum Co., based in Jacksonville, Fla., is a privately owned company that operates service stations with convenience stores in the Southeastern states of Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina and South Carolina, all under the Gate banner. Gate continues to grow and prefers to open "big" locations with a minimum of 10 MPDs per store.

Tobacco is the top-selling category across the chain. Alcohol and non-alcohol beverages alike are Gate's No. 2 sales category, followed by salted snacks and dispensed beverages, meaning its fountain and proprietary Best Bean coffee offerings. Store resets occur several times throughout the year, though the frequency differs by category.
