Largely a grocery chain, Giant Eagle Inc. entered the convenience store business in 2002 when it converted 27 Crossroads stores in Ohio and Pennsylvania to its GetGo brand. It built 13 small stores with fuel in its supermarket parking lots and constructed new stand-alone stores of 4,500 square feet. Giant Eagle continues to add 10 or more c-stores every year.
Forty GetGo locations feature the “GetGo Kitchen,” where customers can order several fresh food options, such as subs, wraps, burgers, salads and more. The chain is keen on marketing healthy choices at its GetGo Kitchens, with several fresh food options, such as salads, fruit cups and wraps.
The chain runs a fuel loyalty program called “Fuelperks” that gives members 3-cents-off per gallon even if they do not have accumulated Fuelperks discounts.
