Greenville, South Carolina-based fuel and convenience retail company The Spinx Co. celebrated its 50th anniversary in December 2022, commemorating this anniversary by donating more than 2,000 meals to multiple nonprofit organizations. As part of its yearlong celebration, Spinx selected one organization per month to receive free meals from its Cluk Truk, which serves fried chicken in surrounding communities. Over the course of 12 months, Spinx served a total of 2,304 meals to these local organizations: United Ministries, Highland Square Apartments, Safe Harbor, March of Dimes, FAVOR, Miracle Hill, Greenville County Police, Boys and Girls Club of Greenville, Greenville Fire Departments, Soteria CDC, Project Host, and A Child's Haven.
In August 2022, the c-store chain was named the No. 1 Best Place to Work in South Carolina by SCBIZ magazine and the Best Companies Group. In March 2022, Spinx, in a move to offer relief to customers, offered a 25-cent-per-gallon discount when using its Xtras Pay to buy fuel for about seven weeks.
The company in early 2022 raised $285,000 for the American Cancer Society during a monthlong statewide campaign.
Spinx, which began in 1972 with a home heating oil delivery service and one convenience store in Greenville, operates 84 locations, including c-stores and tunnel car washes.
