Warren, Pennsylvania-based United Refining Co. is an independent refiner and marketer of petroleum products and the parent company of multiple convenience store chains in Pennsylvania and portions of Ohio and New York. The company operates gas stations, convenience stores, truck stops, restaurants and garages. The c-stores are branded Kwik Fill, Red Apple Food Marts and Country Fair. Each is a separate retail division, operated independently, with separate company headquarters and management staffs.
Kwik Fill's locations include four full-service diesel truck stops, four mini truck stops, two restaurants and two truck-stop motels, according to the company's website. Kwik Fill employs more than 2,300 people in New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania, supporting local businesses, economies and local charities.
John Catsimatidis, CEO of the Red Apple Group Real Estate Co., bought United Refining Co. in 1986. Country Fair opened its first store in 1965 in Erie, Pennsylvania.
