True North Energy operates truenorth, a chain of large-format convenience stores operating in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.

The chain has grown over recent years with the acquisition in 2019 of 25 stores from Schmuckal Oil Co. in Michigan and the acquisition in 2021 of 19 stores and three unattended fueling locations from Titletown Oil Corp. in Wisconsin.

The company strives to offer friendly and fast service in a clean, safe and modern environment. A large selection of grab-and-go food items are available, including sandwiches, wraps, yogurt, vegetables, and dip and fruit. The truebrew coffee station offers several freshly prepared pots of coffee, and the trueoasis fountain beverage station features soft drinks and frozen slushy drinks.

Many truenorth sites also offer Lightning Wash car washes, regularly featuring Wacky Wednesday buy-one-get-one-free wash promotions. It also offers the Shell Giving Pump charitable promotion and the Scrip gift card program for nonprofit organizations to buy, sell and use in store, at the pump or at the car wash.
