Petroleum Marketing Group (PMG) bills itself as one of the largest multibranded petroleum dealers in the mid-Atlantic region, and it continues to grow through acquisition. It also distributes fuel to company stores and its commission agent sites. (The company owns the sites, but the operator/dealer owns the “inside” business and is not on the back-office system of the company’s stores.)
Affiliate E&C Enterprises operates more than 90 sites. Most are in Virginia, with the rest in Maryland, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. The chain’s target customer is the 18- to 40-year-old male looking for fuel, cigarettes and beverages. The stores offer limited-service, self-service and QSR formats for foodservice.
In 2017, PMG acquired the retail assets of Massachusetts-based Leonard E. Belcher Inc., including 13 company-operated c-stores, one new-to-industry site and one development property.
