Certified Oil

In May 2019, EG Group announced it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Certified Oil’s 69 c-stores and gas stations in Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio.

Certified Oil’s Certified chain of large-format c-stores strives “to provide a personal shopping experience by treating our customers as guests, offering fast, friendly service and a clean facility.” Features include a wide selection of grab-and-go and packaged foods and self-serve beverages, including f’real milkshakes and its private-label Carlyle’s Cup coffee.

Certified Oil was founded in 1939 by Carlyle Baker, and it operates or supplies more than 140 locations in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia. It maintains its own proprietary Certified fuel brand as well as branding and distributing fuels for Marathon.
