RaceWay operates as a franchisor, with each location owned by parent company RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. (No. 16). RaceWay’s locations, which average 2,900 square feet, are spread across the South and Southeast United States, from Texas to Maryland. Each store offers products reflecting the local culture around the unit. RaceTrac owns the site, the building and the gas facility. In the RaceWay network, operators pay a commission per gallon of gasoline sold, with inside inventory and sales being the responsibility of the operator. All the stores sell the company’s proprietary gasoline brand.
