What started as a cabinet manufacturing company and then coal distributor, privately operated McClure Oil evolved—currently operating three lines of business: wholesale petroleum distribution, fuel stops and convenience stores that offer both Sunoco- and Marathon-branded fuel that serves virtually the entire state of Indiana. Stores distribute as many as nine grades of fuel, including gasoline, diesel, E-85 and kerosene. Many have foodservice franchises, including Noble Roman's pizza, Subway and Charlie Biggs chicken, the latter hot chicken tenders, wings, sandwiches and signature dipping sauce made fresh in stores. It also serves up Cheddarwurst and Ranchero Tornado, touting a deal of two items for $2.99. Snacks are a popular category at McClure: Candy occupies 16 to 20 linear feet of space under counters around the checkout. Stores have a limited selection of groceries, with frozen food consisting only of ice cream novelties and snacks. Its "Pop Stop" offers a wide variety of beverage options. In April 2020, McClure unveiled a new website with additional functionality and contemporary look.

The company takes pride in its higher standard of customer service in its mostly rural stores, where it offers cleanliness combined with speedy service.
