Spartan Stores and Nash Finch Co., a food distributor, merged in 2014, adopting the corporate name of SpartanNash Co. The combined entity has more than 155 corporate-owned retail stores in nine states and distributes to more than 2,100 independent locations as well as military commissaries and exchanges throughout the U.S. SpartanNash operates 11 wholesale distribution units and seven military distribution centers. Its military operations also serve the District of Columbia, Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Bahrain, Djibouti and Egypt.

SpartanNash's retail banners include Dan's Supermarket, D&W Fresh Market, Econofoods, Family Fare, Family Fresh Market, Forest Hills Foods, Fresh City Market, Martin's Super Markets, No Frills, SunMart, Supermercado Nuestra Familia, ValuLand and VG's.

The company also offers premier fresh produce distribution through Caito Foods.
