Anabi Oil is family owned and operated for more than 20 years. Sam Anabi was born and raised in Yonkers, N.Y., and moved to California to train in the L.A. Sheriff's Academy. While at the academy, he opened his first gas station in 1991 in the City of Baldwin Park.
He was employed by the La Verne Police Department, where he met his future wife and was married in 1995. Sam was injured in the line of duty and retired in 2001 to devote his full attention to growing his gasoline retailing business.
Anabi Oil has grown by buying and selling stations, converting bays into convenience stores, adding car washes, partnering with fast-food brands and building new locations. The company is one of the largest Shell-branded fuel distributors in California, owning and operating 170 locations and delivering fuel to another 100 or more. The company sells and delivers gasoline and diesel fuel from Los Angeles to the San Francisco Bay area.
