Kum & Go is recognized as one of the fastest-growing companies in the United States, and expansion is ongoing, with three new convenience stores opened in summer 2014 in Oklahoma and Missouri. It is the fifth-largest privately held U.S. convenience-store chain.
The chain has offered biofuel to customers since 1997 to meet customer demand. Kum & Go is the largest E85 retailer in the state of Iowa, and it sells E85 in seven other states. The chain also provides B2 biodiesel, a clean-burning alternative fuel produced from domestic, renewable resources; and a 10% ethanol blend. E10, a no-lead gasoline, accounted for nearly 40% of Kum & Go’s total gallons sold in 2005.
Kum & Go’s new c-store design, construction process and operational practices place a strong emphasis on sustainability. All new stores since 2011 are submitted for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. In December 2009, as an early leader in sustainability, Kum & Go became the first convenience store in Iowa to receive LEED certifications.
