Nouria Energy is a Massachusetts-based company that includes a wholesale-fuel division and a retail division. The company owns and operates 83 retail locations in four states in the Northeast, branded with Shell, Irving and Gulf fuels. Many stores are branded Lil' Mart, and new locations will carry that name.

“Nouria is changing, from a wholesaler to a company operating c-stores and delivering fuel,” Jim Francoeur, regional manager, says, adding that Nouria is always looking for small acquisitions.

When Nouria builds a new location, it is now putting in either a combo unit (a c-store with McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts or Sebago Café) or a standalone with its proprietary foodservice. Branding has been the goal. “Everything follows the branding,” Francoeur says.

Stores are known for their clean and bright image, prominent fuel brands, and a strong neighborhood presence with friendly service and products that local customers want. The chain’s main competition comes from Cumberland Farms, Circle K, Hess and 7-Eleven.
