This privately owned and family-minded chain operates convenience stores in four states. Jim and FaEllen Yates founded E-Z Mart Stores in 1970 with one location. The company proudly remains family owned and operated with daughters Sonja Yates Hubbard serving as the CEO and Stacy Yates serving as the chief financial officer. Sonja’s husband, Bob Hubbard is the company’s president and chief operating officer, and FaEllen is chairman of the board.
Jim Yates, E-Z Mart’s founder and first CEO, represented the entire convenience-store industry as chairman of NACS. Sonja Hubbard held the same position representing the industry’s 148,000 convenience stores in 2009.
E-Z Mart’s construction department, in conjunction with many local and regional independent construction specialists, has been remodeling stores at the rate of approximately 20 per year, plus completing new construction of three to five sites per year.
